Entr secures first offshore wind contract in Canada

Aker Solutions’ consultancy arm, Entr has been awarded a contract by Net Zero Atlantic to deliver an offshore wind transmission routing and technology study in Canada as part of the Atlantic Canada Offshore Wind Readiness Program (ACORP).

In collaboration with Canadian-based C-CORE, a global leader in risk-based advisory services in harsh marine environments, Entr will explore and evaluate planning-level offshore transmission routing options and technology configurations for future offshore wind developments.

The study will help inform offshore wind development in Nova Scotia and support the evaluation of potential electricity export opportunities to Canadian and U.S. markets.

Building on Entr and Aker Solutions’ extensive advisory expertise, as well as decades of offshore engineering and project execution experience, the contract award marks the company’s entry into the emerging Canadian offshore wind market.

"This contract represents an exciting entry point for Entr into the Canadian offshore wind market. Working together with C-CORE, we will combine local knowledge with international offshore wind and transmission expertise to help identify solutions that can support future offshore wind development in Nova Scotia and inform the assessment of potential clean power export opportunities,” said Stephen Penton, director, Entr at Aker Solutions.

The study will be led from Aker Solutions’ St. John's office in Canada with support from teams in Oslo, Norway.

Work is expected to be completed in January 2027, with study findings expected to be made publicly available.
